Course Description:

This 2-day course offers an in-depth look into decision analysis tailored specifically for the public sector. We take you through the process of structuring complex decisions, applying probabilistic reasoning, and utilizing decision trees and influence diagrams. With our experienced instructors, you will understand how to use decision analysis to formulate policies, plan projects, and manage risks in a government context.

  1. Introduction to Decision Analysis: Foundations of making structured decisions and the importance of decision analysis in public policy and administration.
  2. Probabilistic Reasoning in Public Decision Making: Techniques for incorporating uncertainty and variability into decision-making processes.
  3. Building and Analyzing Decision Trees: How to construct decision trees for complex government decisions and interpret the results.
  4. Utilizing Influence Diagrams: Learning to use influence diagrams for visualizing and solving decision problems.
  5. Applying Decision Analysis to Policy Formulation and Risk Management: Practical exercises on using decision analysis tools for policy making, project planning, and risk management in government contexts.
